Business Analysis
Business Analysis starts with the strategies defined by the Vision, Mission and Outcomes defined for the business.
BA focuses on Process and Organisation. Customers and Stakeholders for each process are interviewed and their requirements defined.
Each process task has its Inputs identified, its Resources allocated, its Outputs documented and the Trigger event clarified and Feedback put in place. The Effectiveness, Efficiency and Timeliness goals are agreed along with Quality measures.
When multiple processes are queued Business Process Management prioritisation is defined.
When many processes are handled they may be triaged. Some processes may be obliterated.
Major outputs of BA are Return-on-Investment for a proposed project and the Requirements Definition.
While experience in business and in many different businesses is critical BA is essentially a people-to-people communication function. Various tools are available.
